Come attend a presentation on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Main Library. The Friends of the Alameda Free Library will be hosting a docent from the Legion of Honor Museum to speak with us on the life and art the French artist, James Tissot (1836-1907) who defied both personal and professional conventions, in a career that spanned the English Channel. His most ebullient society pictures reveal a rich and complex commentary on culture, religion, fashion and politics.
