The Main Library and its branches will be closed on Monday, October 9th, 2023 for a Staff Development Day and will reopen on Tuesday, October 10th for regular hours.
State and County indoor mask mandates have been lifted in most places for everyone who is vaccinated starting June 24, 2022. Indoor masking is strongly recommended for everyone in high-risk settings and the City of Alameda continues to recommend masks at all City facilities.

The Computer Lab is a space at the Main Library where patrons can find a quiet space for internet access, learn how to use computers, as well as where classes are held on wednesday evenings (as scheduled).
Home Delivery offers free delivery service of library materials to Alameda residents who are unable to come to the library in person due to temporary or permanent disabilities or illness.
Looking for a copy of a local obituary or death, marriage or birth notice? The Alameda Free Library provides a free obituary and genealogy search service. Please limit obituary and genealogy requests to persons who resided in the city of Alameda.
Patrons and the general public can reserve performance/presentation rooms at the library for a nominal fee
