Rowan Katz is a vocalist, songwriter, poet, folklorist, physical theater artist, facilitator and somatic voice educator. Their work most often concerns themes of gender expression and identity, trauma healing, queerness, Jewish diaspora, recovery, abolition, rematriation, grief, and mysticism. Touted as a powerhouse vocalist and performer, Rowan uses performance and education as a way to dismantle shame and foster expression, intimacy, critical engagement, and embodied connection in community. Recent credits include "Songs of Truth: Holocaust Awareness Concert and Conversations" with the Golden Gate Symphony (soloist, coordinator), Free Key Choir (soloist, composer), HBO's "Scavengers Reign" (vocalist), THEYFRIEND Festival (featured artist), As Above/So Below at Marin MOCA (performer), SF Jazz @ SF MOMA (performer), and Glenview Classical Series (featured artist). Rowan also teaches workshops on singing as a tool of political resistance and healing in the East Bay and abroad.

Through their diasporic folk and storytelling project Anam Chaya, local folk musician and music scholar Rowan Katz will lead us in a workshop + performance on Jewish folk music including Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino music and more. Come join us to share in the joy of Jewish cultural diaspora! All ages and experiences are welcome.
