Spotlight on Filipino American History Month 2025

Throughout the month of October, Filipino American library patrons and residents of Alameda are invited to share their stories of growing up in the community, building organizations and businesses on the island, and carrying their families' legacies forward by recording short video interviews. Participants have the option of answering the question:

How do you honor your family's Filipino heritage and contribute to a living Filipino American history on Alameda

Short, unedited, iPhone-quality videos are just fine for this project! Interested participants may submit video files (no longer than 2 minutes) to omills@alamedaca.gov or send a message to that address to set up a time to be interviewed at the Library. Accepted submissions will be compiled into a video installation at the Main Library in celebration of Filipino American History Month. Submissions will be accepted based on the sole discretion of the Alameda Free Library. Videos will be retained after the month of October 2025 only with the express consent of the interviewees.
