Supper and Support

Next date: Sunday, May 19, 2024 | 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM

Sunday April 21, 1:00 to 3:00 PM

Join us at the library every 3rd Sunday for Supper and Support.

At these programs you will have the opportunity to enjoy a meal, generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library, build community with the library, and make connections with local service providers.

The April guest, Dr. Cindy Acker, is an award-winning educator, keynote speak, and playwright. Dr. Acker speaks and writes on social justice issues worldwide. She has served as a public policy advisor, education and board consultant, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging trainer nationwide. Her awards include the DEI award for her work with business leaders and for her play Words That Made the Difference: Brown v Board of Education. She held the first comprehensive pediatric HIV conference for early educators in 1989, and was a coach for school sustainability during COVID, writing and sharing a protocol for contagious disease practices. Beginning in 2020, her work regarding race, microaggressions and THI (Teaching with Historic Integrity) became the focus around the nation as she held weekly Town Hall meetings for educators, board members, and business leaders. Dr. Acker will be addressing hate and microaggressions in the community at the April event.
